Dr Angus C McDonell BM

Professionally, Angus’ principle practice is as a Retrieval Physician with LifeFlight Retrieval Medicine. Besides his extensive experience in the service delivery of pre-hospital medicine, event health care and disaster response, he has a sound understanding of health service delivery in Queensland, derived from his health management experience as a medical superintendent, director of medical services and assistant director of nursing in Queensland and Victorian health facilities. Angus has a particular interest in clinical governance and quality assurance. He has applied skills in health delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Dr McDonell has had a long involvement with St John in Victoria and Queensland through his volunteering at local, regional and state levels. He has been an advisor to the Chief Medical Officer and was a St John Trainer for almost 30 years. Angus has been involved in fund raising for the Order of St John Jerusalem Eye Hospital. Angus chaired the Board’s former Medical Policy Committee which included a range of medical and health practitioners. He is also a commissioned officer of the Royal Australian Air Force.

Angus currently Chairs the St John Qld Board’s People and Culture Committee.
