The state’s largest and most trusted first aid provider, St John Ambulance, has been overwhelmed by the number of Queenslanders responding to its sale on popular First Aid training course.
Everyday Queenslanders are signing up to learn how to save a life before the offer closes on 30 April, with courses to be completed by June 30.
‘We were hoping every Queenslander enrols to learn first aid. The spate of drownings over this summer has been heartbreaking, and we know that competent first aid in these situations can mean the difference between life and death,” said St John Ambulance (Qld) Health Services Manager, Mr Noel Matson.
“Mum or Dad will usually be first on the scene in an emergency at home, and if parents don’t know first aid, they can’t save their little one. Absolutely nothing in the world could be worse than living with that,” said Mr Matson.
Mr Matson said the sale was aimed at making first aid training widely accessible, especially given the deeply troubling figures released in the 2016 Royal Life Saving Report1 which found Queensland to have the second highest number of drownings in the country, and with swimming pools being the leading location for drownings in children under four.
Sale prices for St John first aid courses start from as little as $75 for three hours of training course covering CPR, defibrillation and basic first aid – enough to confidently help save a life.
The sale also extends to workplace compliant first aid training, to help ensure all Queenslanders can help save a mate at work in an emergency.
Bookings close midnight this Sunday 30 April and can be made online at www.stjohnqld.com.au
