Description

The St John Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course gives you the skills to perform CPR on a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. You will gain the knowledge and confidence to perform CPR on an adult, child and infant.

St John Ambulance advises, in accordance with The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council, first aid skills are renewed every 3 years and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.

Delivery Mode & Duration

2 Hours – with mandatory completion of the pre-learning.

This is a Virtual Classroom course delivered in real time, live with your trainer on a video conference with a small group of students. Practical skills assessments completed in this session. The training resources (including manikin) will be posted to you and yours to keep! You need reliable internet access and a laptop or tablet with a camera, speaker and microphone.

Students are required to perform assessment tasks on another person, who acts as the ‘mock casualty’. Students need to arrange a second person to join them for 15 mins in the second half of the class.

Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

  • Must be able to perform CPR on a manikin on the floor for 2 minutes.
  • If the online mandatory pre-learning is not completed prior to the course date, students will not be permitted to enter the class and will not receive certification.
