The Caring for Kids course is an online course for anyone who regularly or intermittently cares for infants and children, including parents, grandparents, extended family members, babysitters and nannies.
It provides practical skills and knowledge on identifying and managing a number of common conditions and injuries in infants and children. It also provides information on how to access referral and advice services that can help to determine the need for medical aid.
Course topics include:
- Identifying illness and responding to emergencies
- D.R.S.A.B.C.D. Action Plan
- Choking
- Fever, vomiting, diarrhea and nappy rash
- Asthma and croup
- Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
- Wounds, bleeding and shock
- Burns
- Bites and stings
- Seizures including febrile convulsions
- Other common injuries such as nosebleeds and a knocked-out tooth
Easily completed within 60 minutes
Participants will receive a St John Certificate of Completion.
