Description

The course covers a broad range of advanced skills and provides you with high level skills in management of large incidents, major trauma, sudden cardiac arrest and emotionally disturbed and drug affected casualties.

This course also covers the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation and oxygen therapy in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. In addition to the above the course provides the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace. It is applicable to workers in nominated occupational first aid or management roles.

Certificates

This is an accredited course. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources

St John Ambulance advises, in accordance with The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council, first aid skills are renewed every 3 years and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.

Credit Transfer

St John offers a Credit Transfer for participants who have completed HLTAID011 Provide First Aid within the last 12 months. A copy of the Statement of Attainment MUST be issued to the Customer Care Centre 7 business days prior to the course commencement.

Delivery Mode & Duration

We offer a variety of delivery methods to suit your needs. You can attend a Public Course selected from the list below. You can also request this course to be delivered on-site at your workplace or a venue of your choosing. Please contact us for further information.

3.5 Days

Participants are required to undertake an online e-learning module prior to attending the face-to-face workshops for practice and assessment. Participants who have completed HLTAID011 Provide First Aid in the last 12 months may be entitled to an exemption from the first day.

Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

  • Must complete pre-learning before coming to class as topics covered in pre-learning are not covered in the classroom.
  • Must be able to perform CPR on a manikin on the floor for 2 minutes.
